The University of Arkansas Greenhouse Outdoor Recreation Program (GORP) and the state’s Office of Outdoor Recreation have released a free digital video series to help early-stage entrepreneurs build their businesses, according to a news release.

Start Smart: A Business Building Curriculum offers self-paced modules taught by leaders from across the state.

“This program is special thanks to the variety of topics covered and a curriculum designed to help founders develop knowledge essential to building a sustainable business,” said Elizabeth Quinn, senior program manager for GORP.

Courses offered include lean canvas, customer discovery, business financials 110, and intellectual property law. Course instructors include Phil Shellhammer, executive director of UA’s Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Katherine Andrews, director of the state’s Office of Outdoor Recreation.

The program is supported by a grant from the Economic Development Administration and the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism. The modules are available online at this link.

“The project exemplifies the collaborative nature of entrepreneurship in this state and the system of support,” Quinn said. “Many of these modules were taught by professionals volunteering their time to support startup founders.”
