In case you missed it, Greenhouse Grille’s Black Bean Slider recipe recently beat out more than 1,000 entries to win the US Foods Next Top Product Contest at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas.

The sliders — a smaller version of a black bean burger served in the popular Fayetteville restaurant — will become a US Foods product, distributed to restaurants throughout the country starting next year.

In addition to a $5,000 prize, Greenhouse chef and co-owner Jerrmy Gawthrop and co-owner Clayton Suttle are getting $15,000 for a kitchen renovation, which they intend to use to expand the space.

The Greenhouse Grille US Foods win begs the question: Could the restaurant parlay its unique brand of fresh, tasty, “conscious cuisine” into the food production industry?

It is reportedly in the early planning stages to start selling some of its signature dishes at local grocery stores.

Although no announcements have been made, the restaurant appears to have a budding relationship with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (Walmart owns the planned Midtown Center development where Greenhouse Grille reportedly will open its downtown Bentonville location.)
