The University of Arkansas announced Tuesday that it’s reducing the number of football games played at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, beginning in 2014.

Details of the amended agreement were announced at a news conference at War Memorial Stadium. The previous agreement between the UA and the War Memorial Stadium Commission — an eight-year deal which called for two football games at the stadium annually — was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2016 season.

According to an athletic department news release, the Razorbacks will play one game a year in Little Rock for the next five years.

The UA has also agreed to War Memorial Stadium $400,000 annually in 2014, 2015 and 2016, money that will help offset projected revenue from games previously scheduled for those seasons, as well as to help satisfy debt incurred on the stadium’s recent renovation project.

The UA will not pay a rental fee for games in the stadium during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The Razorbacks will host the Georgia Bulldogs for a Southeastern Conference game in Little Rock on Oct. 18 next season.
