Diamond Holding Company Merging With Texas Firm
The holding company of a commercial truck dealership in Lowell is merging with another firm to create a new company with revenues nearing $1 billion.
Diamond Companies of Memphis will merge with Roberts Truck Center LLC of Amarillo, Texas, effective Jan. 1.
Both are privately held, family businesses, according to a news release. The combined company will serve 26 markets in seven states with 1,300 employees, and will maintain dual headquarters. The name of the new company was not announced.
Roberts Truck Center is a holding company for commercial truck and bus dealerships in Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The Diamond Companies chain is made up of 16 truck and bus dealerships across four states, all dedicated to the sale and service of big rigs. The company has more than 600 employees in Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
One of those dealerships is Diamond International Trucks, a 60,000-SF facility at 807 S. Bloomington in Lowell. The dealership has 75 employees and its customers include J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., P.A.M. Transportation Services Inc., Tyson Foods Inc. and a number of other large, medium and small companies.
Other Diamond locations in Arkansas are in Conway, Little Rock, Pine Bluff and Russellville.
The Arkansas locations combined for about $150 million in sales in 2012.
