Sacred Harp Singing School
The Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers will hold a shape-note singing school at Springdale’s First United Methodist Church in Springdale, Friday, October 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The school will be taught by Rene Sheppard Green of Anniston, Alabama. “Newcomers and singers of all abilities are invited to join in this full-voiced a cappella music form that is full of history and tradition,” said B. R. Black, a member of the Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers.
The singing school will be followed with an old-fashioned singing convention, Saturday, October 26 from 9:30 am to 3:00 p.m., also at the First United Methodist Church. A potluck dinner will be served at noon.
All activities are free. Registration is not required. The First United Methodist Church is located at 206 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale. For more information, call B. R. Black at 479-369-0003.
