Tolbert: Rep. Ann Clemmer Prepares For Congressional Run
State Rep. Ann Clemmer tells me today that she will have an announcement on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Old Supreme Court Room at the State Capitol.
Multiple sources have confirmed to The Tolbert Report that she is preparing to enter the open race for the Second Congressional District, and a media advisory released late Monday afternoon says she will make an announcement about the Second District race.
Last Monday, Congressman Tim Griffin announced he would not seek a third term in office. Clemmer, who had been preparing to challenge Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson in the Republican primary, began looking at switching to the Congressional race. Sources have confirmed that she has begun to line up support for a run.
Rep. Clemmer of Bryant is completing her third term as a state representative, where she serves as vice chair of the House Education Committee and is a member of the State Agencies and Governmental Affairs panel. She also teaches political science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and has previously served as president of the Arkansas Political Science Association. She appears frequently as a political analyst on local news programs.
