Bank Deal Will Mean Shakeup
As you know, Simmons First National Bank recently bought Metropolitan National Bank for $56 million. The deal is supposed to officially close sometime next month.
And when it does, things will change for employees at the Northwest Arkansas branches of the two banks. CEO-elect George Makris said “every branch associate is interviewing” for their job in the central and northwest locations.
In the end, “we will have fewer employees than we have today,” Makris said. A key goal for Simmons is to consolidate as many of the 12 Metropolitan and 14 Simmons locations as possible.
Specifically, Makris said the aim is to fold two or even three branches into one.
“We do expect consolidations,” Makris said.
The biggest hit will take place in the pool of part-time employees, and to a much lesser extent, full-timers.
Whispers has a word of advice for bank employees: Start sprucing up those resumes.
