Northwest Health Center-Bentonville has named Ben Casmer as the hospital’s new chief operating officer.

Casmer has six years experience with Community Health Systems, which is affiliated with Northwest Health System, most recently at Weatherford Regional Medical Center, a 99-bed hospital in Weatherford, Texas.

Dan McKay, CEO of Northwest Health System, praised Casmer’s reputation of helping improve each hospital where he has worked.

During his tenure at WRMC, Casmer assisted in physician recruitment, and the hospital’s $22.3 million expansion that added 52 private patient rooms, an eight-bed coronary care unit and a cardiac cath lab.

Casmer, who holds degrees from Texas A&M University and Trinity (Texas) University, has also spent time as assistant CEO at Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.

The hospital’s former COO, Tripp Smith, was recently named the chief executive officer of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Largo, Fla.
