Arkansas Capital Corp. expands its board reach and non-profit Our House adds six new high-profile members to its board of directors.

MALONE JOINS ARKANSAS CAPITAL CORP. BOARD
The Arkansas Capital Corporation has named Mike Malone to its board of directors. Malone, president of the NWA Council, was elected to a one-year term.

“We are strengthening our relationship with Northwest Arkansas with the election of Mike to our board of directors and will be able to extend our economic development reach to the area through Mike,” said Rush Deacon, acting CEO for Arkansas Capital Corporation.

The board also announced that Dr. Tim Atkinson, president of the Arkansas Science & Technology Authority, has replaced Dr. John Ahlen as ex-officio member of the Arkansas Capital Corporation board of directors.

Additionally, new Arkansas Capital Corporation board officers were appointed. Dennis Cooper, a certified public accountant with Frost, PLLC, and who has been an Arkansas Capital board member since 2008, is now chairman of the board. Brad Chambless, senior vice president of The Farmers & Merchants Bank, has served as a board member since 2009 and was announced as president of the board.

OUR HOUSE APPOINTS SIX NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Our House named six new members to its board of directors. Our House is a Little Rock-based non-profit shelter for the working homeless. The new directors include:

Joe Carter, CEO of Snyder Environmental, an environmental remediation firm which specializes in asbestos, lead paint and mold remediation and demolition. Carter established a partnership between Snyder and Our House that involves employment training and certification of Our House clients in asbestos abatement. Snyder provides training and scholarships and hires graduates upon completion of the program.

Jessica Dean, a reporter and evening anchor for KARK Channel 4 in Little Rock. Dean has taken a particular interest in homelessness, producing multiple pieces on family homelessness and child homelessness. She and her husband, Blake Rutherford, are co-chairing Our House’s December fundraiser Tie One On.

Janet Korenblat, co-owner of IK electric. Korenblat is a certified public accountant and has served on the board of several other area non-profits.

Amy Pierce, Executive Vice President and Senior Lender at Summit Bank. Pierce has over 15 years of experience in banking. Her involvement with Our House includes direct service to clients through evening one-on-one financial planning and budgeting sessions with students of The Learning Center.

Kent Sorrells, Managing Director at The Stephens Group, a private equity investment firm. Sorrells recently gave a significant donation to Our House in support of the Children’s Center Capital Campaign and enlisted support of others in his network to collectively name the Technology Center after his brother, R. Barry Sorrells, Jr.

Danyelle Walker, an attorney at the Law Offices of Danyelle Walker. Her practice specializes in bankruptcy and she has practiced in that area for over seventeen years. During this time, she has done a significant amount of pro bono work.
