USGBC Names Winners of Sustainability Awards

The Arkansas chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council will present seven awards for leadership in sustainable building at the chapter’s second annual Green Tie Awards dinner April 4 at the Chancellor Hotel in Fayetteville.

Stitt Energy Systems Inc. of Rogers will receive the Legacy LEED Project award. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

The company headed by Orlo Stitt is being recognized for its LEED NC Platinum office buildings at 1301 S. Eighth St.

The LEED Project award goes to King Elementary School in Van Buren, the first Gold LEED for Schools project in the state.

University of Arkansas Facilities Management, responsible for renovation and new construction projects on the UA campus, has been named Member Organization of the Year.

Mikel Lolley, founder of the nonprofit Treadwell Institute in Fayetteville, was named the Northwest Branch Outstanding Member. Jim Chidester with Chidester Engineering in Cabot was named the Central Branch Outstanding Member.

The Impact Award will go to Chris Ladner, a partner in energy consulting firm Viridian in Fayetteville and Little Rock.

MESA Landscape Architects Inc. of Little Rock will receive the Pioneer Award.

The dinner is among many events scheduled for the chapter’s three-day Sustainable Arkansas Conference.
