Forty Under 40: Nathan Ogden
Nathan Ogden grew up on construction sites from the time he was 5 years old. Throughout high school and college, he worked construction jobs on the side.
“When I got my degree, I just decided to make a career out of it,” he said. He went to the bank and got a loan on a piece of construction equipment.
“I decided I’d better get to work if I was going to pay that off,” he said.
He’s now the president of Pick-It Construction Inc., a company he founded in 2002.
The company had 36 jobs its first year, including fences and one custom home. In year 11, the company has completed more than 5,500 jobs, including the 48,000-SF Arkansas Athletes Outreach sports complex in Fayetteville.
When Ogden is not at work, he’s usually hunting.
“If there’s a season for it, I’ll hunt it,” he said.
He also hosts a television show called “The Huntin’ Show,” aimed at showing viewers different methods for hunting wildlife.
The show is in its third season and broadcasts in Northwest Arkansas, the Arkansas River Valley, southwest Missouri and northeast Missouri.
Ogden is also passionate about giving back to the community. Pick-It Construction gives an annual scholarship to his alma mater, Prairie Grove High School.
