The inaugural edition of our Talk Business Arkansas daily update has arrived. In today's webcast/podcast, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette political columnist John Brummett analyzes the opening day of the session.

With 30-somethings in charge of Senate and House leadership and in charge of several key committees, Brummett commented on whether he thought there may be too much youth or inexperience in this 89th General Assembly.

“It's less the age than the person,” Brummett said in reference to House Speaker Davy Carter (R-Cabot) and Senate President Michael Lamoureux (R-Russellville). “I see in both of them – not to blow too much smoke at them – but I see in them a wisdom beyond their years.”

Also, we run through the committee chairmanships announced by Speaker Carter and we take a look at the big issues that will be debated in this legislative session.
