A&E Firm on the Move?

One of Northwest Arkansas’ largest architectural and engineering firms might be relocating its headquarters from one Bentonville address to another.

Harrison O. French and Larry Lott, principals of Harrison French & Associates at 809 S.W. A St., have acquired the former site of National Home Centers Inc., a privately held, Springdale-based chain of home building supply stores that filed for bankruptcy in 2009.

The vacant development at 1705 S. Walton Blvd. includes eight buildings and about 130,000 SF.

The price? $4.38 million.

As we reported in November, the property had been under contract for several weeks.

It had been owned by NHC founder Dwain Newman, through his The Newman Family LLC, and currently has one tenant, operating through a lease agreement.

New Life Christian Center renovated one of the buildings in 2012, and holds services there twice on Sundays, and Wednesdays.

French’s usage plans for the property are unknown, but we suspect his company — currently in a 22,000-SF space — will be the primary tenant with plenty of additional space available to lease to other tenants.

The sale was backed with a one-year mortgage of $5.5 million held by Arvest Bank-Rogers.
