Suddenlink has earned a 2012 Beacon Award for the company’s support of Arkansas State University’s Johnny Cash Music Festival.

The award is sponsored by the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC), which recognizes excellence in communications and public affairs throughout the cable industry. The 2012 awards are given for programs competed between mid-2011 and mid-2012.

The music festival, held at Arkansas State University, raised more than $300,000 for the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Restoration Project.

“Suddenlink people live and work in this area and take pride in volunteering to help make Jonesboro and Arkansas a great place to live,” said Suddenlink Regional Manager of Community and Government Relations LaDawn Fuhr. “While the successes of our programs provide the greatest rewards, we’re pleased that others recognize the value of these programs that also require generous support from many others in our community.”

Suddenlink’s Jonesboro team won a 2010 Beacon Award for its community electronic recycling or “eCycling” program that, to date, has collected about 89 tons of old electronics equipment for proper disposal at no charge to local residents.
