Internal Poll Shows Gossage With 25-point Lead Over Post

The Bill Gossage campaign put out a poll today showing them with a commanding lead over his opponent in his race for State Representative in District 82.

It is an internal poll — which is important to note — but it is from Diamond State which was spot-on accurate during the 2010 election cycle, so I think it is a good number.

The head-to-head poll shows Republican Bill Gossage with 54.4% support compared to only 29.3% supporting the incumbent Democratic Rep. Leslie Milam Post —  in short, a 25-point lead.

The generic ballot shows an even larger lead with 57.1% preferring a Republican and 30.2% a Democrat.

The poll surveyed 451 randomly selected registered voters who also identified themselves as likely to vote in the next election.

Campaign Manager Skot Covert commented, “We’re very pleased with these results as it confirms Bill’s conservative message is resonating with the voters of District 82. We’ll continue to work hard over the coming months to finish strong in November.”

The poll is consistent with other poll numbers I have seen that shows an overall Republican generic advantage across the state with Republicans running ahead in most head-to-head match ups.
