The six heirs to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. founders Sam and James “Bud” Walton are worth nearly as much as the bottom half of American households, an analyst with the Economic Policy Institute figured out.
Josh Bivens found that the Waltons’ combined worth of $89.5 billion in 2010 is equal to the worth of the 41.5 percent of families at the lower end of the economic ladder, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The Walton heirs are Rob, Jim, Alice and Christy (widow of John) Walton, Nancy Walton Laurie and Ann Walton Kroenke.
