Ark Monroe Honored By Arkansas Bar Association

The Arkansas Bar Association and the Arkansas Bar Foundation selected T. Ark Monroe, III of Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C. as this year’s recipient of the James H. McKenzie Professionalism award.

The award, given annually to a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, recognizes sustained excellence through integrity, character and leadership to the profession and the community which garners the highest honor to the legal profession.

Monroe, a partner with Mitchell Williams currently practices corporate and administrative law with an emphasis in insurance and utility issues. He often represents utilities, business corporations, insurance companies and insurance trade associations before state legislatures, Congress and regulatory agencies. He has been admitted to practice in Arkansas, the District of Columbia, and before t

he Supreme Court.

Before joining Mitchell Williams, he was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Union Life Insurance Company in Little Rock. Monroe was Legislative Director for United States Senator Dale Bumpers in Washington, D.C., and also served as Insurance Commissioner of the State of Arkansas under Governors Dale Bumpers and David Pryor.

Monroe began his law practice in Magnolia with the firm of Keith, Clegg and Eckert.

He served on the Board of Hendrix College for 12 years, and has also served on the boards of the Arkansas Arts Center, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, the Arkansas Chapter of National Conference for Community and Justice, and the Alumni Association of the University of Arkansas. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History at the University of Arkansas.
