Wade receives Outstanding Lawyer award

Fort Smith attorney Wyman R. (“Rick”) Wade Jr., a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, is the recipient of the Outstanding Lawyer Citizen Award presented by the Arkansas Bar Association and the Arkansas Bar Foundation.

Wade, a partner in Daily & Woods, received the award at the annual awards dinner of the Bar Foundation, held June 6 in Hot Springs.

The award is given in recognition of outstanding participation in and excellent performance of civic responsibilities and for demonstrating high standards of professional competence and conduct.

Wade teaches a class titled Legal Environment of Business.

Wade, who is also assistant city attorney for the City of Fort Smith, previously served as city prosecutor and was previously a partner in Hanks & Wade in Fayetteville. He is also a member of the board for the Fort Smith Public School System, where he served as president for two terms, and is an alumnus adviser to the Zeta Rho Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at UAFS.

His previous civic contributions include serving as president of the St. Edward Mercy Medical Center Board of Trustees. He has also been active in the United Way and previously served as president of the Sebastian County Bar Association and has served on the board of the Fort Smith Girls Club. He is a member of the Leadership Fort Smith Class of 1993-94.

Wade received a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, a master’s degree in political science from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a law degree, with honors, from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
