A New Jersey-based company has announced plans to add to the inventory of a rapidly growing market in Fayetteville — student housing.

University Student Living, the student housing company of The Michaels Organization, will partner with Park Green Properties of Houston to develop The Vue, a 180-unit development targeting the growing student population at the University of Arkansas.

The project is situated on a hilltop at 1001 W. Rochier St., just south of Martin Luther King Boulevard and overlooking Fayetteville High School as well as the southern edge of the UA campus.

The development will have 656 beds and be comprised of three building styles — four-story flats, three-story townhomes and individual townhomes. Plans call for the usual upscale amenities including an 8,000-SF clubhouse, fitness center, social lounge and wireless Internet café.

Parkcrest Builders in Houston will be the general contractor for the project, scheduled to start June 1.

The Rogers office of Crafton Tull and Ted Trout Architects & Associates in Houston will lead the design team.

Leasing for fall 2013 occupancy will begin in September.

Ramsay Ball with Colliers International in Bentonville closed the transaction on the 18.81-acre property, which sold for $1 million.
