Lions’ Chronicle: Music, fitness and drama

In March of 2010, UAFS students launched the first student publication in 8 years. The Lions' Chronicle, which began as a monthly publication with a staff of 6 students, has since grown over the past few semesters to a staff of around 20.

With the increase in staff, the production has also grown. Last fall the staff produced 6 issues — one new issue about every two weeks.

Following are some of the recent stories from the Lions’ Chronicle. (Click on each headline for the full story.)

Battle of the bands
On the night of Tuesday, March 13th, the UA Fort Smith Campus Activities Board held its 8th annual Battle of the Bands competition in the Reynolds Room of the Campus Center. Just like in years past, this event brought out an entire spectrum of different people that would normally never be in the same room.

Lions’ Chronicle editorial
Spring is a time for new beginnings, renewals, and growth. Everything surrounding us is in a state of change, which can spur us to look inward and evaluate areas of growth in our own lives. Change can often be difficult to accept, but acceptance is often accompanied by new and beautiful things.

Fitness fun
With another semester getting closer to the end and summer time right around the corner, it’s time to get back in shape. But if your shape is more like a circle and you want to get that slim and trim look, the fitness center at UAFS is here to help you. If you have ever been to the fitness center or are planning on stopping by to see what it looks like you’ll see that there is a new face this semester. Meet new UAFS Fitness Instructor Cory "Bigg Sonn" Williams and find out the story behind his nickname.

Student drama
UAFS Theater presented Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream March 25-17, 28, and 29. The show was impressive – everything from the stage and props, to the costumes and acting was entertaining and full of talent.
