Local ABC affiliate KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29, won 25 awards for news excellence, including best newscast, at the Arkansas Associated Press Journalism Awards in Little Rock.

The station has earned the distinction of having the best newscast in the Fort Smith/Fayetteville market for nine consecutive years and its 25 awards this year are the most of any station in the market, according to a news release.

Other first-place awards included best non-spot news, enterprise-investigative, documentary, continuing coverage, sports coverage, weather segment, spot photography and non-spot photography.

40/29 news director Dawn R. Dugle said the recognition confirms the station’s priority of being the best at news coverage in both Northwest Arkansas and the Fort Smith area.

“Our viewers deserve balance and to once again be honored by our peers validates our dedication to comprehensive news coverage,” she said in the release.

KHBS/KHOG is owned and operated by Hearst Television Inc.
