Jay Bunyard, owner of Bunyard Broadcasting Inc. of De Queen, has launched a new station in Northwest Arkansas.

KFMD-FM 101.5 began broadcasting May 1 with a classic hits (oldies) format featuring hits from the ‘60s through the ‘90s, with an emphasis on ‘70s and ‘80s artists.

Bunyard, whose radio group includes 18 stations across Arkansas, believes he has a found a niche that isn’t currently being served in the local market.

“We believe that no station in Northwest Arkansas has ever captured the 30-plus years of the most exciting music ever made, until now,” he said in a news release.

Bunyard Broadcasting also includes Springdale-based The Hog Sports Radio Network as well as KTHS AM-FM in Carroll County.

Bunyard said the launch of KFMD-FM 101.5 is the first phase of a $2.5 million expansion project for Bunyard Broadcasting into the Northwest Arkansas market, adding 10 employees to the company.
