Fort Smith to Recognize Tourism Industry Stars

The Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau has created a new awards event to honor businesses, organizations and people who promote Fort Smith as a tourism destination.
The GRIT (Giving Recognition in Tourism) Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. April 19 at MovieLounge, 7601 Rogers Ave.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
• Business Partner of the Year;
• Attraction Partner of the Year;
• Lodging Partner of the Year;
• Restaurant Partner of the Year; and the
• Polly Crews Hospitality Person of the Year.
Nominations were taken in March, and finalists will be announced early this month.
Also at the ceremony, the bureau will showcase the past year’s Hometown Hospitality Heroes, who were highlighted each quarter in the City of Fort Smith’s newsletter.
