Dean John DiPippa of the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law announced plans to step down and return to the classroom effective June 30, 2012.

DiPippa will resume full-time teaching beginning in the fall 2012 semester.

During his three-and-a-half-year tenure, DiPippa led the school through a successful reaccreditation process with the American Bar Association, raised a total of $3.3 million in current and future funding commitments, and revitalized the Bowen Alumni Association.

“I am particularly proud of the things we have achieved at Bowen during my tenure as dean,” DiPippa said. “We added concurrent degree programs with the College of Business and the UAMS School of Public Health, bringing to seven the number of partnered-degree programs Bowen offers. We’ve endowed numerous scholarships and increased alumni involvement significantly.”

Interim Provost Sandra Robertson will appoint an interim dean for the Bowen School of Law, and this individual will be in place to begin the 2012-2013 academic year. During that year, the university will launch a national search to replace DiPippa.
