The University of Arkansas expects to spend about $8.8 million on restoration work on historic Peabody Hall.

The 4-story building was originally constructed in 1913.

L.J. Roberts of Claremore, Okla. was the original architect on the building.

East-Harding Inc. of Little Rock is the general contractor.

Schwartz/Silver Architects Inc. of Boston is the lead design architect.

Allison Architects’ Fayetteville office is the local firm working on the project.

The Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education and Health Professions has called the building home.

The Department is set to move back into the building once renovations are complete.

The building is slated for a late 2011 completion. The university is planning to eventually get a Silver LEED certification on the building.
