U.S. News & World Report has released its “2011 America’s Best Colleges” guide, and the University of Arkansas’ supply chain management and logistics specialty is ranked among the top 25 nationally.

The program, offered within the Walton College of Business, is ranked in a tie for 23rd among all universities and a tie for 15th among public graduate business schools.

Tom Jensen, Wal-Mart lecturer in retailing and chair of the Walton College department of marketing and logistics, called the ranking “a great honor.”

Jensen also said eight students per year have graduated with an MBA emphasizing supply chain management over the last three years.

Additionally, the UA’s undergraduate program is ranked 15th among all universities and ninth among public schools. The UA has awarded 221 undergraduate degrees with a logistics/transportation major over the last five years.

The most recent graduating class included 49 such students, the highest number in any of the last five years.

Jim Crowell, managing director of the Walton College’s Supply Chain Management Research Center, said the support of its 52-member board of directors “enables us to greatly enhance the quality” of both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
