Surgeons Convert Fayetteville Hospital
The new owners of the Physicians Surgery Center, located on Parkview Drive in Fayetteville, have big plans for the facility.
Fayetteville Surgery Center LLC, an ownership group made up of 80 percent physician ownership and 20 percent investor ownership, purchased the building and the two adjacent lots, for $6.4 million in November.
Board members include Russ Green, former Surgery Center administrator, Dr. Robert Tomlinson and Dr. David Cannon.
The center will be converted into a muscular-skeletal hospital. A parking lot is currently under construction across the street. A two-story tower will be added to the north side of the building and an emergency room and ambulance bay will be built on the south side of the facility.
Total construction costs are estimated at $12 million. The additions will double the size of the current building to about 49,000 SF.
The additions will allow the hospital to apply for a license for 23 beds. With additional expansions that number could increase to 46.
The specialty hospital will have four emergency rooms, two of which will be used for major operations, an MRI, a computer X-ray system and the ability to build custom joints and prosthetics for patients.
Work on the additions will begin in late January or early February.
Scottsdale, Ariz.,-based Roland Companies is the general contractor for the project.
Polkinghorn Group Architects Inc. of Austin, Tex., completed the architectural work.
The expected completion date for the new facility is March 2009.
