American Airlines Receives Incentives
During a conference call on Oct. 1 the board of directors of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport Authority approved a recommended incentive package for American Eagle Airlines as part of its maintenance operation expansion at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.
The four-year, $250,000 incentive package was requested by American Airlines as a way to help offset the cost of relocating about 25 employees to Northwest Arkansas.
Through the approved agreement, the board of directors will deliver a $100,000 payment to American Airlines immediately and provide an additional $50,000 to the airline over the next three years.
The proposal received unanimous approval from the board.
The expansion of the airline’s maintenance program will create 100 new positions and will relocate some employees and their families from a closing American Airlines maintenance program in Bangor, Maine.
American Airlines has signed a lease with Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport for the use of one of the three large hangers that was previously occupied by the Ozark Aircraft Systems.
Board chairman Stan Green also noted that American Airlines will be eligible to receive three different performance incentives through the state’s economic development commission.
