Lohmeyer-Russell Architects of Springfield, Mo., opened an office in Bella Vista on April 3.

The new office will be set up initially for construction administration of a $12 million 60-unit retirement condominium project for Waterford Cooperative Retirement.

The project, which is located in Phase II of the Plaza at Highlands Crossing site, should start construction in the fall.

Randy Russell, partner in the firm along with Jim Lohmeyer, said the firm’s focus tends to lean toward nursing homes, long-term care, condominium and hotel projects, in addition to church buildings.

The 12-person firm opened in 1995 and has eight registered architects, three intern-architects and an office manager.

Russell graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture with Lohmeyer.

“We have a connection to Northwest Arkansas because of our education,” Russell said. “In a way we are coming back to our roots.”

The firm also has a Courtyard by Marriott project in Fort Smith that it designed for John Q. Hammons Revocable Trust in Springfield.

“We know the amount of development and construction in Northwest Arkansas seemed like a natural fit for us,” Russell said.

We feel like we could really provide a good service for developers, contractors and owners in Northwest Arkansas.”

Some Lohmeyer-Russell projects include the Baptist Home of Ozark long-term care facility in Ozark, Mo., and the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center in Tulsa.
