Writer Gets Technical With Insight Business

Brad Lawless, former managing director of the University of Arkansas’ Information Technology Research Institute, left that job on Dec. 31 to pursue his passion — writing.

Lawless, who has an undergraduate degree in English and a master’s degree in Information Systems, both from UA, formed Insight Writing to “blend” his talents into a technical writing career.

So far he’s developing a software training manual for a small firm, and on retainer as a technical writer with some of the area’s larger firms.

“If it covers business or technology, I’ll do it,” Lawless said.

There’s plenty of business in the area to support his niche, he said, as businesses “mature” and realize they need what he offers.
