Harrells Run Two Different Banks, Families
Some folks who follow the movement of bankers from one bank to another may have done a double take and thought that a man named John Harrell has been making the rounds.
He has, sort of.
John Harrell is the president of Priority Bank, and Jon Harrell is the president of Signature Bank of Arkansas’ Rogers office.
The two aren’t related.
Priority is an Ozark-based thrift that has topped the statewide charts for return on equity (57 percent as of June 30) for three years running. The bank recently opened its first full-fledged bank in Fayetteville and has plans for more expansion into the two-county market.
Jon Harrell is the son of Searcy W. Harrell, CEO of family-owned Harrell Bancshares in Camden. Harrell Bancshares collapsed its First Bank of South Arkansas’ $91.1 million in assets into the holding company’s other bank charter, Calhoun County Bank at Hampton. It then sold the FBSA charter to Signature. Harrell is a minority shareholder in Signature’s parent company.
