Haynes Ltd. Goes for Costa Rica
Haynes Ltd., the renowned Rogers architecture firm, is now an official ecotourism entity in Costa Rica. It has partnered with Neo Arquitectos of San José, Costa Rica, to design Tortuga Landing — an exclusive six-home residential community in the central American nation’s west coast resort haven of Quepos.
Tortuga has a private entrance to Para Beach and is five minutes from the Manuel Antonio National Park.
Tortuga’s six residential units will be 4,000 SF each and range in price from $1.2 million to $1.5 million. Haynes, the firm that started the posh west Rogers Pinnacle Hills complex, developed Tortugas with avid sport fisherman and retired businessman Jack Houpe of Rogers.
Collins Haynes said because the development is basically in a wildlife habitat area, his firm had to comply with a variety of governmental guidelines. The habitat is home to eight species of amphibians, 17 species of reptiles, 69 species of birds and 15 species of mammals. Even a rare ocelot has been observed on the property.
“We had to establish monkey trails and protect the entire canopy of the area,” Haynes said.
