New Publications Serve Niche Markets (Outtakes Opinion)
We’ve noticed several new publications in the area lately.
One of the most interesting is Umoja Soul, NWA, a monthly magazine for the area’s African-American community, which also focuses on other ethnic groups. Leora Jackson is the publisher, and Cornell McClellan is editor. Subscriptions for the Fayetteville-based publication are $24 per year.
The one that caught us off guard was On the Record. The flag proclaimed “Serving the tri-state region’s GLBT community.” We soon discovered that GLBT stands for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered. The monthly Fayetteville-based tabloid is published by Denise Iribarren and available for free at various locations around town.
