Kelly Williams plans to open a 22,000-SF Sears Authorized Retail Dealer Store in November in Bentonville’s Regency Office Park.

“After 28 years, I’m quitting Sears to own my own store,” said Williams, a district manager who oversees 12 Sears dealer stores in northern Arkansas.

Williams said he hopes to begin construction this summer on a 26,500-SF building that will house the store and 4,500 SF of lease space. In the meantime, Williams and his son are heading to Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

Williams, who lives in Conway, plans to move to Northwest Arkansas to oversee the new store, which is a new prototype for Sears dealer stores. Only two others in the nation are near the 22,000-SF size. The majority of Sears, Roebuck & Co.’s 800 independently owned dealer stores are 7,500 SF in size.

Williams said north Arkansas is the second largest market for Sears dealer stores in the United States. The stores carry Sears hardline products, such as appliances and lawn equipment.

Other Sears Dealer Stores in northern Arkansas are in Siloam Springs, Mountain Home, Russellville, Batesville, Ash Flat, Heber Springs, Clarksville, Paragould and Pocahontas.
