Chris Sheffield resigned the week of Dec. 8 from his job as business editor for the Northwest Arkansas edition of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

“I have resigned to pursue other interests,” Sheffield said. “I will be doing some freelancing and staying in the area.”

“As a newspaper policy, we can’t comment about why somebody left and what they’re doing,” said Stephen Caldwell, city editor for the D-G’s Northwest Arkansas edition.

“We are looking for a new person for the editorial team up there,” said Roger Hedges, assistant managing editor for business in the D-G’s Little Rock office.

Sheffield began working at the D-G as editor of the weekly “Business Matters” section in January 2000. He replaced John Cummins as business editor in December of that year. After a year with the D-G, Cummins left the newspaper to serve as managing editor for the Nashville Business Journal in Tennessee.

The D-G began publishing the “Business Matters” section in 1997.
