Wal-Mart?s Influence Still Staggering
Arkansans now have a choice of 51 Wal-Mart Supercenters where they can register their vehicles and receive license-plate decals right there on the spot (that is, if they have insurance, have paid property taxes and have had their vehicle assessed).r
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration began the test program last year, installing kiosks in five Wal-Mart stores.r
Now, the registration is available at Wal-Mart Tire and Lube Express locations across the state, including Supercenters in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville.r
“This is all part of the governor’s e-government initiative,” Fred Porter, Arkansas’ administrator of motor vehicles, said previously. “This is part of bringing government to the people instead of requiring them to come to us.”r
We’re amazed at the extent of Wal-Mart’s influence, not only on the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the nation’s economy as a whole, but by becoming a branch of the federal government for the distribution of $1 coins and of the state government for vehicle registration.r
