New Restaurants Planned for CMN

Hamburger and barbecue restaurants are currently in the works for Fayetteville’s CMN Business Park.r

On Oct. 27, the Fayetteville Planning Commission approved a large-scale development for Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. of Greenwood Village, Colo., to build a 6,256-SF building on two acres of property on Van Asche Drive. The restaurant is scheduled to be open in June.r

The land is owned by Nanchar Inc. and MSB Properties LLC of Springdale. Red Robin International is the developer. McClelland Consulting Engineers Inc. of Fayetteville is the engineer.r

Founded in 1969, Red Robin now has more than 200 locations in the United States and Canada. The company had revenue of $274.4 million and net income of $8.3 million last year.r

Darden Restaurants Inc. of Orlando, Fla., filed a large-scale development plan with the commission in mid-October.r

The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal reported on Aug. 18 that Darden plans to build one of its Smokey Bones BBQ Sports Bars on the lot at the corner of Mall Avenue and Van Asche Drive. r

The Smokey Bones building will be 7,567 SF in size on a 1.8 acre lot. The engineer is CEI Engineering Associates of Bentonville.r

Construction of the Smokey Bones is to begin in March, and the restaurant should be open in September.r

Darden, which also owns Red Lobster and Olive Garden, had revenue of $4.65 billion and net income of $232 million in the fiscal year ended May 25.r
