State?s Top Philanthropies Include Towering Local Trio
Five of the Top 10 and eight of the Top 20 largest nonprofit organizations in the state are based in Northwest Arkansas. The Top Three overall incuding the state-leader Walton Family Foundation Inc. of Bentonville, which has reported assets of $366.85 million and annual income of $22.11 million, are from Benton or Washington counties.r
Buddy Philpot, director of the Walton Family Foundation, is the second highest paid philanthropic executive in Arkansas with a total compensation package of $223,584. He takes no compensation for directing the third largest nonprofit in the state — the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation Inc.r
Frank Tugwell, who directs the $83.6 million Winrock International foundation in Morrilton, receives $286,555 annually as the state’s highest paid nonprofit exec.r
