Hammons Plans 250-room Marriott at Pinnacle Hills
Hotel mogul John Q. Hammons announced on July 17 that he will build a $30 million, 250-room, full-service Marriott hotel and a 100,000-SF convention center in Rogers’ Pinnacle Hills business development.
In August 2002, Hammons said he would build a four-story, 150-room Courtyard by Marriott at the site. But plans have changed based on studies pertaining to Northwest Arkansas’ projected economic growth, said Scott Tarwater, a spokesman for Hammons Hotels Inc. of Springfield, Mo.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2004 and be completed in 2006.
As Arkansas’ first full-service Marriott, the hotel will connect to the new convention center via a climate-controlled sky bridge, as will Hammons’ Embassy Suites Hotel of Northwest Arkansas, a $40 million, 248-room hotel that opened at 3303 Pinnacle Hills Parkway in May.
Hammons said the convention center will have more than 10,000 SF of meeting space.
The new Marriott will be Hammons’ sixth hotel to be built in Arkansas and will complement the company’s portfolio of almost 60 hotels.
