We hear representatives from Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc. of Irving, Texas, were in Fayetteville the week of July 14 to take a look at NBC 24/51. The television station’s owner, Griffin Holdings Co. of Muskogee, Okla., recently announced that 24/51 may be for sale (see Outtakes column, p. 30).

In January, Nexstar announced that it was buying KARK-TV, the NBC affiliate in Little Rock, and WDHN TV, the ABC affiliate serving Dothan, Ala. Those stations were previously owned by Morris Multimedia, which at the time owned four television stations and 95 newspapers.

Nexstar owns 25 network-affiliated television stations in 16 markets in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama and New York. Nexstar serves 3.5 percent of all U.S. television households.

Nexstar had revenue of $123.1 million last year, a 25 percent increase over $99.1 million in the previous year.
