Times: Buy a Noun
We gigged the Northwest Arkansas Times in November for using front-page headlines that consisted of only two words. We contend that the headlines told readers almost nothing about the story underneath.
So what did the Fayetteville newspaper do next? It got even more stingy with it’s verbiage.
The Times main headline on Jan. 28 consisted of only one word — “promoted.” We would like to see our sixth-grade English teacher diagram that one.
It’s pretty sketchy information, but the sub-headline finished the thought: “Council selects new clerk from old clerk’s staff.”
