Three-State Group Forms for I-49 Planning
A coalition of planners and other officials from Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana have formed a three-state coalition to promote the completion of Interstate 49 from New Orleans to Kansas City. Specifically, the I-49 Coalition plans to work to ensure the 2003 Federal Highway Reauthorization Bill includes projects pertaining to the I-49 project.
The organizational group that met in December in Fort Smith included representatives from Lafayette, Shreveport and New Orleans, La.; Fort Smith and Texarkana; Texarkana, Texas; and, Joplin, Mo. Steve Stewart, projects manager for U.S. Rep. John Boozman and Arkansas Highway Commissioner Prissy Hickerson also attended.
