St. Stephen’s Church Undergoes Large Addition

St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Bentonville recently purchased a building permit valued at $3.5 million to have several new facilities added to its existing location.

St. Stephen’s, located at 1300 N.E. J St., has about 400 members under Father Mike Sinkler’s leadership.

The new addition will be 7,305 SF and will include a sanctuary, chapel and classrooms. The existing building will be turned into a family life center.

The general contractor on the project is H.W. Roper Construction Co. of Little Rock. The target date for completion is early 2004.

Chris Elder continues townhouses addition

Chris Elder of Elder Construction Co. in Springdale recently purchased three building permits valued at a combined $1.44 million to build more Fayetteville townhouses.

Pleasant Woods Townhouses, on Pleasant Woods Drive near Asbell Elementary School, will range in size from 1,100-1,200 SF each.

Jensen Building homes at Carriage Square

Bruce Jensen of Jensen Construction in Bentonville recently purchased 10 building permits valued at about $1.12 million to build homes at a southwest Bentonville subdivision.

Carriage Square subdivision will have 189 homes, 33 duplexes and office space.

Homes will range from 1,750-2,200 SF. Jensen’s latest homes will be on Southwest Cabriolet Drive and Southwest Hanson Loop.

More Homes Added at Bent Tree of Rogers

There are four new building permits totaling $759,084 in value for homes at a Rogers subdivision.

Dan and Jacqueline Hinkson of Springdale will build homes at 5406 and 5408 Bent Tree Drive.

Legend Builders Inc. of Springdale will build a home at 5305 Bent Tree Drive, and Austin Homes Inc. of Bentonville is building one at 5309 Bent Tree Drive.

Bent Tree of Rogers is a 127-home subdivision. Dallas-based developer Randy Winski and Mike Philip of Fayetteville are partners on the subdivision.

Homes at Bent Tree will range from 2,000 to 2,400 SF.

Lindsey to Build at Eagle Crest

John David Lindsey on Aug. 13 got eight loans totaling $690,000 from First Western Bank in Rogers to build homes at a north Springdale subdivision.

Eagle Crest subdivision is in north Springdale on both sides of the Washington and Benton counties line. There are 91 lots in the subdivision just off Wagon Wheel Road. Homes there will average from 1,750-1,800 SF.

Mark Marquess, Rick McCullough and Dan Dykema developed Eagle Crest.

GE Capital Moving to Millsap

Greg House of Houses Inc. in Fayetteville on Aug. 6 got a building permit valued at $711,000 to build an office for GE Capital in north Fayetteville.

GE Capital, which serves Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sam’s Clubs, will move into a 9,125-SF, one-level building at 303 W. Millsap Road by late January.

John P. Marinoni Construction Co. of Fayetteville is the general contractor on the project.

GE Capital, with assets of more than $425 billion, is a global, diversified financial services company grouped into six key operating segments comprising 25 businesses. A wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Co., GE Capital, based in Stamford, Conn., provides a variety of consumer services, including credit cards, life and auto insurance, mid-market financing, specialized financing, specialty insurance, equipment management and specialized services.

ARC Construction Adds to Centerpoint

ARC Construction and Development Inc. on July 31 secured nine loans totaling $583,520 from Simmons First Bank to build more homes at a Bentonville subdivision.

The eventual 300-home Centerpoint subdivision is three miles west of Bentonville.

Homes at Centerpoint range from 1,100-1,500 SF and are priced from $69,000-$90,000.

McAlister’s Deli Coming to Fayetteville

Mike Means of By All Means 2 LLC in Little Rock on Aug. 1 purchased a building permit valued at $500,336 to build a new restaurant in north Fayetteville.

McAlister’s Deli plans to open in a 3,600-SF facility at 4055 N. Steele Blvd. in November. The franchise will be owned by Means and managed by his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Mike Carey.

Hydco Inc. of Little Rock is the general contractor on the restaurant.

Mike Carey is the son of the late Bob Carey, a former journalism professor at the University of Arkansas who died July 8.

McAlister’s Deli is headquartered in Ridgeland, Miss. Its original restaurant was in Oxford, Miss. There are about 80 McAlister’s around the southeast, including about five in central Arkansas.

Law Office Moving to Millennium Place

The law firm of Brady Platt and Harrison on Sept. 16 purchased a building permit valued at $300,000 for a new office in northeast Fayetteville.

Blair Brady, Kathryn Platt and Scott Harrison will be moving their office to 2792 E. Millenium Drive in the Millennium Place business complex. The office currently is located at 129 W. Lafayette St.

Atlas Construction of Fayetteville is the general contractor on the project. The target date for moving is early 2003.
