Delta Systems Inc. announced on Aug. 7 that it has hired Steve Martin, a former Tyson Foods Inc. executive and not the “wild and crazy guy” from “Saturday Night Live” fame.

Steven K. Martin will serve as vice-president and general manager of its Delta Software Inc. wholly owned subsidiary.

Delta Software markets Delta’s automation control software, SoftFlow, and related hardware and services to third parties who are typically either end-users who operate manufacturing facilities or original equipment manufacturers that supply equipment to manufacturers.

Martin will report directly to Jake M. Bushey, president of the company.

“Steve has two decades of experience working with the some of the most sophisticated production and controls systems available and has decided to invest all his efforts in growing Delta Software,” Bushey said.

Prior to joining Delta, Martin was director of plant systems for Tyson Foods in Springdale. Martin joined Tyson in 1989 and progressed through positions of increasing seniority to his most recent assignment. At Tyson, Martin was responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of information systems across the production enterprise.

“I am very enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead the development of the Delta Software business,” Martin said. “I experienced first-hand the powerful functionality and scalability of Delta’s SoftFlow controls software while I was at Tyson Foods.

“I believe that the business opportunity relating to this technology is so great I wanted to play a leadership role in commercializing and growing the controls software segment of Delta’s business.”
