Razorbacks Make More Moolah at Home
Katie Hill, the University of Arkansas’ senior associate athletic director, said the Razorbacks football program earned $2.53 million in ticket and luxury box sales for its Sept. 8 game with the University of Tennessee at newly expanded Reynolds Stadium.
That does not include an expected $100,000 net to the program from concessions and novelties when final tally is reached. It also does not include the television broadcasting rights from ESPN2, which will come at the end of the season as part of the Southeastern Conference’s TV disbursement to all of its member schools.
Although Hill said the revenue figures are still preliminary, Reynolds Stadium’s $110 million expansion from 50,000 seats a year ago to 72,400 this season has made a huge difference.
For a single big game last year, general and club seating sales were about $1.3 million in Fayetteville. For games played at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium, that figure is closer to $1 million.
But the Razorbacks don’t get any concessions or novelty money from Little Rock games.
“This is the reason that we did the stadium expansion,” Hill said. “It was for this better economic situation.”
