When Springdale Mayor Jerre Van Hoose was running a successful 1998 campaign, he showed pictures of unsightly structures around the town that he wanted removed.
One of the most unfavorable buildings was on South Thompson Street just north of Y Liquors. It has been leveled and there are preliminary plans for a retail center to be built on the lot.
Greg Fess of ACTRON Inc. of Little Rock recently got approval from the Springdale Planning Commission to build at the site, including a low-frequency television tower for the possibility of a new community access station in Springdale.
