The Northwest Arkansas Community Foundation gave a total of $779,920 to 31 area nonprofit agencies in 2000.

The grants were made possible by two donor-advised funds — Bates Charitable Trust and the Northwest Medical Auxiliary — both of which were created after Bates and Northwest Medical Center’s parent organization, Northwest Health Systems, was transferred to Quorum Health Resources and became a for-profit group. Both organizations placed remaining funds in NWACF to benefit nonprofit agencies in Benton, Washington, Madison and Carroll counties.

Bates Charitable Trust recommended five grants totaling $494,290. Northwest Medical Auxiliary Fund recommended 26 grants totaling $285,000.
