True Hogs Fans Must Show Their Wallets
Arkansas Razorback fans may show their pride by buying the official University of Arkansas Alumni Association’s Las Vegas Bowl trip package. But those same people better be prepared to show their wallets.
After seeing the dollar amount differential in taking the UA’s preferred package and that of a local travel agency’s, we were left to wonder: Where’s the catch?
The UA uses Total Sports Travel agency of Montgomery, Ala., for its sports trips. That package includes roundtrip airfare, three nights at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino and a shuttle bus to and from the bowl game. It cost $850.
We found a much more reasonable deal through a local ravel agency, where the same package — excluding the shuttle — cost $466.
That’s a total savings of $384 if you went outside of the UA’s official package.
Frances Mayo, owner of Around the World Travel agency in Springdale, said, “You could take a limo to the game and back and still save money.”
Game tickets are $50 each and were not included in either package. Both packages were based on traveling from Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.
