Tom P. Inthavong of Springdale plans to open Bangkok Cuisine, a Thai restaurant, by Jan. 1 in The Bakery Building on Fayetteville’s Dickson Street.

The space previously housed the Retro Cafe and, before that, Cheeburger Cheeburger. Retro Cafe closed Oct. 5 after being open for only six months.

Inthavong is doing some renovation to the 3,683-SF space that fronts Dickson Street, said Nancy Branch, who manages the property for owners John Tyson, David Buckley and John Maier.

Inthavong said his restaurant would be different from other Thai restaurants in the area but didn’t elaborate. Bangkok Cuisine will serve beer and wine but not mixed drinks.

Inthavong previously owned two restaurants, both of which were named The Thai Room, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Inthavong, a native of Thailand, is living in Springdale.
