Journal Has Vise Vice

O.K., so we’re not perfect. That’s why the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal tries to poke as much fun at itself in this column as it does the local daily newspapers.

On Oct. 16, a cover story on employment in our publication ran beneath the following headline: “Job market vice tightens.”

Obviously, “vice” should have been “vise.” According to Webster’s New World Dictionary, we implied that the job market has “an evil or wicked habit.” Another definition of vice included “prostitution.”

These connotations were certainly not intended. Although we couldn’t help snickering a little after we spotted the mistake.
